Drugs and Substance Abuse is one of the major problems affecting young people in Kwale. Huge potentials and talents have gone wasted only to leave admirers of those talents utterly disappointed. Potential brilliant football players found themselves trapped into the menace.
The belief among peers in the sports is that for a better performance on the field, some “enhancement” little do they know they are killing their talents. To play, one requires high levels of fitness and mental strength. That requires sobriety, being sober means being clean.
SambaSports Youth Agenda has been leading efforts against drugs and substance abuse for years now with the focus on adolescents. This has had effect on them being involved in the Targeted Intergrated Sporting and Arts (TISAs) activities featuring different sports, theatre, and public speaking.
Recently, SambaSports has seen the emergence and growth of a formidable partnership between the organization and SS Assad–soccer club in Kwale. Marking the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, SambaSports, presented pairs of jerseys to SS Assad. The Ukunda Lions will help SambaSports create awareness on Drug Abuse with the jerseys on.
