SambaSports Youth Agenda, a non-profit organization based in Kwale County, has been making waves in the community with its innovative approach to addressing social ills. The Shade of Samba, a group of young and talented individuals, has been at the forefront of the organization’s efforts, using art and skits to sensitize the community against crime and drug abuse.
One of their recent initiatives, Mbweka Integrated Soccer for Peace, was a huge success, with the entire community coming together to support the cause. The skit depicted a young gang leader terrorizing the community, while the parents failed to take action. However, with the help of the police, the juvenile criminal was apprehended and later came back to the community to advise against crime.
The skit was a powerful tool to start the conversation about the dangers of crime and drugs. Through visual art, it was easier to connect with the players and get them talking about the issues before the game. The Shade of Samba’s sessions really calmed down the youth, even as the sports engagement can be very emotional.
The Mbweka Integrated Soccer for Peace event was a huge success, with everyone in the community fully engaged and positive vibes all around. People were nodding, grinning, smiling, clapping, and patting each other on the back, all in support of the cause.
SambaSports Youth Agenda’s efforts are not going unnoticed. They are making a huge impact in the community, and it’s no wonder that they are attracting social impact investors and donors for their community projects. The Shade of Samba, with their passion, selflessness, commitment, and talent, are doing an exceptional job at sensitizing the community against social ills through Arts and Skits.
Congratulations to the Shade of Samba and SambaSports Youth Agenda for their outstanding work in empowering communities in Kwale County. We look forward to seeing more of their innovative and impactful initiatives in the future.
