SambaSports had the privilege and honor to play host to the most powerful American citizen in Kenya, the Charge d’Affaires ad Interim, Mr. Eric W. Kneedler—interim US AMBASSADOR to Kenya.
This goes without missing to mention that the entire team at SambaSports was overly excited with faces brimming with overstated euphoria and unmatched gratitude and humility. The visit will go into the history books of SambaSports marked with and deep inspiration and motivation. Like they said when Africa hosted the 2010 World Cup Finals, do we say about this special visit from the America Government representatives—once in a lifetime! His visit was primarily to see what SambaSports has been doing and most importantly experience and appreciate its efforts.

Mr Kneedler went around the SambaSports Youth Agenda premises and witnessed the ongoing ten-days Mental Health Capacity Building training courtesy of Kumekucha Quest Project. He also had met vulnerable young women during their pro-bono tailoring classes. Moreover, he saw the mini library which his office helped in donating most of the books.
He later met project heads of various community projects at SambaSports Youth Agenda including ASRHI, Kumekucha Quest, English Access and Shared Futures. He was more than impressed and extremely moved by the extent of our efforts and innovations invested to lift the fortunes of adolescents and youth in both Mombasa and Kwale counties. He was effusive about our sports-centred model of our programming, and promised to support our work, whenever possible.

The U.S. Embassy Nairobi is no stranger to SambaSports Youth Agenda as they are funding the English Access Microscholarship program in Kombani and Ng’ombeni Secondary schools. Our partnership Advisor, Mohamed Mwachausa is also an alumnus of the IVLP Fellowship program, by the US Department of States, and yet to be a recipient of an alumni grant to support grassroots social entrepreneur initiatives.
Additionally, two more members, Amani Nuri is an alumnus of KL-YES Program and Biasha Said is an alumna of Youth in Countering Violence against Terrorism. Once more, Thank you AMB. Kneedler, the Embassy and the American people for your humbling partnership with us.
