More than 400 boys between the ages of 11 and 13 years benefitted from a day-long safe-space forum at Waa Primary School play ground on Saturday 30th March 2019, where they were engaged in soccer championship, edutainment skits and life skills trainings.
Reporting from 7.30am, 12 teams from within Kombani and Waa areas converged at the waa grounds, each team bringing 20 under-13 boys as official team, and several under-13 boys spectators.
Apart from the Soccer, Skits and life skills trainings, the boys, as usual in any SambaSports events, were served breakfast in the morning, lunch and refreshments during the day as part of the package.
The program involved soccer preliminary matches, Quarter finals, semi finals and finals. During the matches, the play was stopped in 6 intervals, where each interval of 20 minutes and 40 minutes, the boys were put in tents, or under the shade, for edutainment skits and life skills trainings.
NACADA and NCIC
Apart from Sensitization Sessions by SambaSports facilitators, the boys benefited from presentations by three Guest speakers, two from #NACADA and one from #NCIC, National Cohesion and Integration Commission.
The NCIC officer, Ms Nyongesa, motivated the boys to focus on their talents, careers and dreams and refrain from juvenile gangs and Radicalization. She challenged the boys to integrate and make friends across social and cultural backgrounds.
The NACADA team focused on Drugs and Substance Abuse prevention, by unpacking the demerits of various drugs, and how to #RESIST! the temptations to experiment with various drugs.
We wish to thank all our partners, stakeholders and well wishers for their contribution to the success of this event.
Special thanks reserved for #Base_Titanium, #Radio_Kaya, #NACADA, #NCIC and #MAENEO_Legacy for their wonderful support to this event.
