Makongeni village of Kinondo ward, Kwale County, is a unique ecosystem that’s home to diverse people, including migrant segments of Wapemba, Rwandese, Ethiopians, Ugandans, coexisting with Digos, Durumas, Luos, Kambas, Kikuyus, Bajunis, and many others. With such diversity, the community can be a spark away from conflict. However, SambaSports Youth Agenda, through its #SharedFutures project, has found a foothold in the community by partnering with youth leadership of Makongeni, led by one Ezra.
Since early 2022, SambaSports has conducted several sensitization activities in Makongeni, including Maskani Youth mental support, Value-Based Education, Soccer4Peace tournaments, GalPower Fun Days, Skits Expos, and now #ChachawizaMaskani sessions for youth empowerment on employability and enterprise support. These activities have all taken place within a span of seven months, connecting the Makongeni diversity to a world of beautiful possibilities.
At SambaSports, we believe that every young person should have the opportunity to reach their full potential, regardless of their background or circumstances. We are committed to unlocking the potentials of youth in Makongeni, giving them access to education, employment, and enterprise support that will lift up their fortunes and transform their lives.
Thanks to our partners, Kerk in Actie through Cordaid, and Africa Youth Trust, we have been able to make this possible. With their support, we are creating a brighter future for the youth of Makongeni and unlocking the potentials of this unique ecosystem for shared prosperity.
If you are a donor or social impact investor looking for meaningful community projects to support, we invite you to join us in lifting up the fortunes of Makongeni and unlocking the potentials of youth in Kwale. Together, we can create a brighter future for all.
