As an organization committed to promoting literacy and education, we at SambaSports Youth Agenda understands the importance of creating a reading culture among learners. Over the years, we have provided hundreds of text and story books to learners in the English Access Microscholarship Program in order to influence a reading culture at their schools. However, we know that such provisions alone are not enough. The learners need more partners, friends, and resources to support their reading culture and to light up their learning outcomes.

That’s why we are proud to have partnered with Ushindi Library and Hatua CBO to help our learners from Mrima Secondary School and Shikaadabu Secondary School find a new reading home, a hub for reading resources, networks, and continuous guidance related to their studies and careers. Through these partnerships, we have seen firsthand the impact of collaboration in facilitating a reading culture.
Our English Access program team, spearheaded by the Fulbright Program volunteers, Nadja Umlauf and Elaine Ansah, worked tirelessly to establish these partnerships and create new opportunities for our learners. The students were overjoyed by their new frontiers, and their illuminated faces in the photos speak volumes about the impact of such partnerships.

As an organization, we believe that partnerships are crucial in promoting a reading culture among learners. We are grateful to our partners, Ushindi Library and Hatua CBO, as well as the U.S. Embassy Nairobi, for their support in lifting up these dreams together. We hope to continue working together to create more opportunities for learners to cultivate a love for reading and to achieve their full potential.
In conclusion, partnerships play a vital role in fostering a reading culture among learners. By working together, we can provide learners with the resources and support they need to excel in their studies and achieve their dreams. We look forward to more opportunities to collaborate and make a difference in the lives of learners.
